The sixth of seven Family Nights, events geared to help parents of elementary school students build strong relationships with their children, is scheduled for 6 p.m. Tuesday, March 17 at Quakertown Elementary School.

Quakertown Community School District has partnered with the Family Service Association of Bucks County for these free meetings that have included presentations about parental stress, personal safety and healthy living.

On March 17, the discussion will be about “Budgeting 101” that will include an interactive presentation on balancing your budget and lifestyle by QNB Bank. The evening, as always, will include a light dinner, book giveaways and raffles.

“These events have been so helpful and productive for all of our Quakertown Community School District families,” said QE Principal Dr. Michael Zackon. “Parents have learned about the local resources available to them right here in our community. When families are engaged in their children’s education, it helps their students become better learners. That’s what this is all about, and I’m proud that we’ve been able to be the host.”

Quakertown Elementary School is located at 123 South Seventh Street. The events run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Parking is available in the Quakertown Community High School parking lot, between Fifth and Sixth streets on Park Ave.

Kathleen Megahan, FSA’s Family Strengthening Coordinator, said the topics of Family Nights “have been pertinent for today’s parents and children, and allowed them to spend quality time together in a meaningful way. When children have a strong foundation, they have the ability to transition to school and succeed. Parents are the first and best teacher.”

The final Family night is scheduled for Tuesday, April 14. But please save this date: Thursday, May 28. From 5 to 7:30 p.m. Family Fest will be held at QE. (Rain location is Quakertown Community High School, 600 Park Ave.)

The free evening will include music, games, crafts, food, entertainment and prizes. It’s open to all families in the QCSD community. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

If you have questions, please contact Ms. Megahan, 215-757-6916, extension 225, or [email protected].
